The Redskins defense is jamming now.
Following a tryout at Washington’s rookie minicamp, the Skins signed former Tulane linebacker Nico Marley, who just so happens to be the grandson of legendary reggae musician Bob Marley.
Marley was an all-conference linebacker at Tulane, playing 49 career games over four seasons, racking up 319 tackles and 50.5 tackles for loss. But Marley is just 5-8, 200 pounds, so he’d likely serve as a special teamer or defensive back if he makes the team.
Marley’s father, Rohan, was also a skilled football player, playing linebacker for the Miami Hurricanes 1992 to 1994.
Nico wasn’t the only recent college football player with a famous musician relative. Recently, Justin Combs (son of rapper P. Diddy) and Cordell Broadus (son of Snoop Dogg) played football at UCLA, while John Mellencamp’s son Hud played football for Duke.
The Marleys also have a reverse genealogy as Ozzie and Nikko Smith, Ozzie being the legendary athlete and his son Nikko being an American Idol finalist.
Either way, cool to see Marley get a shot. But even if he gets cut, he shouldn’t worry about a thing, because every little thing, is gonna be alright.

happy wheels
