Officer recovering after West Baltimore police-involved shooting no arrest at this time

Baltimore police say a gunfight broke out that included shots fired at officers, last night in West Baltimore.

Officers originally responded to a “Shotspotter” alert at about 8:37 p.m. on Edmondson Avenue near North Warwick; the “Shotspotter” technology indicates when a probable shot was fired.

Officers saw a vehicle in the area and tried to stop the driver .

As the vehicle stopped, police believe someone in the vehicle started shooting at the officers.

The vehicle then fled and headed down West Lafayette Avenue, ultimately stopping at West Lafayette Avenue bridge.

An occupant got out and started shooting at approaching officers, striking a patrol vehicle multiple times, said police.

At least one officer returned fire; the vehicle then fled, said police.

One officer was taken to Shock Trauma as a precautionary measure.

Anyone with information about the vehicle and its occupants is asked to call 911.

Shortly after, officers responded to a local hospital where a shooting victim had come in. The victim said he was shot near the Edmondson/Warwick area. Officers are trying to determine if there’s any connection to the prior incident.
